About me
I am a microbial ecologist interested in the (epi)genomic, metabolic, and physiological diversity of microorganisms and how this diversity impacts ecological interactions, evolution, and ocean processes. I use a combination of cultivation, time-series observations, multi-omics, and computational approaches to explore these topics. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Meren Lab at the Marine Biological Laboratory and the Helmholtz Institute for Functional Marine Biodiversity, supported by the Simons Postdoctoral Fellowship in Marine Microbial Ecology. I am examining the response of ocean microbes to environmental change with a particular focus on the responses of slow-growing marine bacteria called oligotrophs. I strive to make science more accessible through effective communication, reproducible workflows, teaching and mentorship, and advocacy. I love to hike, swim, surf, travel, and scuba dive.

I use science as a vehicle to build relationships and community.
